Christina Houghton: Christina Houghton is an Auckland based choreographic artist/writer who creates site responsive participatory performances. She recently completed a PhD in Art and Design at AUT University. Her work consists of guided walks, boat trips and instructional videos that critique safety drills and emergency protocols in times of environmental crisis. Her practice looks for fun interactive ways in which we might C.O.P.E through acts of recovery which consist of rafting and resting with others. She also asks how we might take witness to climate catastrophe through somatic rituals of loss and remembrance. Christina has created performances and video work for NZPQ15 Prague Quadrennial, Czech Republic; Oceanic Biennial Auckland, Rarotonga, Cook Islands; Carmo, Chiado & the Letters of the Republic, Lisbon, Paris, Auckland, Granada, Lódź & at the Gus Fisher Gallery Auckland and in the Dunedin Fringe Festival. Here in Tamaki Makaurau her work was part of HEAT Solar Revolutions Te Uru Gallery, White Night: Auckland Arts Festival; The Festival of Uncertainty; Whau Arts Festival; Art on the Manukau and Auckland Fringe Festival.
